Sat., March 1  Second Annual POPSICLE PLUNGE!
12n-3pm Our biggest family FUNd-raising event of the year! Jump into the icy waters of the Gunpowder River to support environmental awareness and the educational mission of MPNC. Free games and family activities for all plungers and their supporters. Register ahead by calling our office or visiting www.marshypoint.org, or register on event day from 12 noon to 1:30pm during check-in.  
 
Thurs., March 6 Beekeeping Course 
7:30pm Marshy Point welcomes Steve McDaniel, President of the Maryland State Beekeepers Association, as he teaches the basics of this ancient skill. Class meets every Thursday evening in March. Hands-on learning day Saturday April 12. Register by calling 410-887-2817.

9am Volunteer to help improve our nature trails and learn about managing land naturally. All tools provided. Warm up with hot cocoa by the wood stove. Dress for the weather! Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Kids can also enjoy the 9am program.
 
Sat., March 8 Build a Bird House 
9-11am, $5pp Bring a hammer and help us build wooden boxes for nesting blue birds. These boxes will be installed by students at our partnering Green Schools. Your $5 contribution will help us buy the materials.

9am Explore the estuary and its shores with local birding experts. All ages and experience levels welcome. Binoculars provided.

2-4pm Hop with us to a nearby pond and explore the shallows in search of signs of the season's first peepers!

2-4pm Learn the history of this tasty beverage as you hike to find its ingredients, then make some to enjoy with your own root beer float!

7:30pm Join John L. Seidel, Anthropologist from Washington College, to find out who Captain John Smith met on his voyages 400 years ago. All are welcome.  Refreshments provided. 
 
Fri., March 21 Full Moon Night Hike: Worm Safari
7:30pm, $2pp As the soil thaws from the winter months, worms wriggle out to play in the moonlight. Come with us on a nighttime adventure you won't soon forget. Campfire stories and s'mores to follow. Ages 6+.
 
Sat., March 22 Evening Canoe Trip and Picnic
7pm $25/boat, $10/indv. Pack a picnic supper to enjoy before shoving-off for a guided cruise as the moon rises over the marsh. Space is limited.
 
Sat., March 29 Learning GPS
2-4pm, $2pp Learn about GPS by coming "Geocaching" with us, and get a taste of our upcoming GPS course. No experience or special equipment is necessary to participate. Fun for families and folks of all ages.
 
Sun., March 30 Family Tree Planting for Arbor Day
2-4pm  Watch Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" and plant a tree with us here at Marshy Point. Seedlings will also be available to take home for a small donation. Space may be limited.

10am-12n, $30 CCBC Professor Steve Knox teaches GPS hands-on with geocaching, a "sport" in which latitude and longitude coordinates are used to navigate in a treasure-hunting game of hide and seek. 7-8pm, $20pp Each Wednesday in May at Marshy Point, the professional dive instructors from Off the Wall SCUBA of Middle River will teach children ages 8-12 about the world's oceans and the impact we have on them.
